Roll brim beanie

I made dad another hat. He wears them all the time. I used the same Ravelry pattern I have used in the past.  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/basic-roll-brim-beanie
Used a size 7 needle but this time I did not do a ribbing row to control the brim roll. I used scraps of Plymouth Encore yarn. The striping result was achieved by Helix striping. I did socks for Josie with this technique this past Christmas. This time I used four colors. Fun way to use up scraps of yarn.

Hermione's Everyday Socks

Finished these wonderful socks. They feel great on my feet! I don't really mean I don't really mean:  I can't wait to wear them. It's summer. I'm sockless and I want to stay that way. But when I finally have to put socks on these will be fantastic and I will love to wear them.

I used size 1 needles. The yarn is Debbie Macomber Blossom Street Collection, Pedal Socks. I purchased the yarn at Northern Lights Yarn Shop, Norwich, VT. The pattern is a free download on Ravelry.

Knitting needles organized

I used to have my needles in these great boxes. Actually I still have my straight needles stored in them. But my circular needles were getting to be a problem. 

I found inspiration on Pinterest and put my circulars as well as interchangeable tips into clear sheet protectors available at Staples and put in a 3 ring binder. Each sleeve has one size needle but all types. For example the number 8 tips and all circulars (16", 24", 40") are all in one sleeve with notes as to what I have stored. Here's hoping it keeps me organized. 

I still have my needles listed on my phone so I have a pretty good idea of what I have when I'm at the yarn shop. 

Ughh

I think this is the first time I've ever ripped (AKA frogged) so much knitting. I'm working on my Elizabeth Zimmerman adult surprise jacket. Not wanting to be boring I added stripes: the sleeves and the stripe to widen the sleeve. Ugh. So I'm taking them out and replacing with just blue, the body color. After all the idea is to make a sweater I'll wear not to finish a sweater!

 

Wurm hat

Finished my wurm hat today. A series of knit and purl rows and a great double layer brim. The pattern is a free Ravelry download. I used Zino Yarn made by Plymouth. It's a fingering weight yarn so I used a size 4 needle for the entire hat. I also did a provisional cast on to make it easier when I picked up the stitches for the double thick band. I made a large size (110 cast on). I think it's a little big and if I make it again I might try a smaller size.

Something blue

This infinity scarf is a beauty. I did find the mohair yarn a pain to knit with but the end result was worth it. It took about 1 1/2 skeins of Cascade Kid Seta.

I thought Morgan might want to wear it for her wedding. If you follow the Ravelry link below you will see how gorgeous it looks as a shawl.

It is called "Mohair Bias Loop" by Churchmouse Yarns and Teas. You can see and purchase it on Ravelry. 

To give it a real infinity look the ends are grafted -- at first very loose and then you go back and tighten it up. It was not difficult but very time consuming. I estimate 3-4 hours

Socks

Socks are so much fun especially when people ask for them because they like them. It also gives you a chance to try new ideas, a different cuff, a new heel, using yarn creatively. These socks were made for Christmas 2013, all with worsted Encore yarn and Yankee Knitter classic sock pattern.
